BAR Honda Formula 1 Seasons 2003 & 2004

Production : Philippe Albera
Country : Monaco

When the Formula One Racing Team Bar Honda wanted to showcase their recent strides as the leading challenger to Ferrari’s success, they called on Flying-Cam. Team Flying-Cam travelled to Barcelona for a second time a little more than a year to capture the awesome power and speed of this Formula 1 machine. After an unprecedented success for Flying-Cam for its shooting debut in Formula 1 in 2003, team Bar Honda called on us again in 2004 to demonstrate its new 005 Chassis with driver Takuma Sato behind the wheel, showing great confidence in Flying-Cam’s ability.

Although this was Flying-Cam’s first adventure in the world of Formula 1, it was by no means the first exposure Flying-Cam has had to the world of car racing. Back in 1995 and in 1996 CBS Television asked Flying-Cam to broadcast the Daytona 500 race from high above Daytona International Speedway. The network had deployed more than 30 cameras – flying, tiny and otherwise – throughout the speedway to film the race. It was the most cameras the network had ever used to film a sporting event. The cameras captured the thrill of the race from practically every angle. The network debuted Flying-Cam, wearing tiny CBS logos as it shot the race below. The first reaction view from CBS Announcer Ken Squier: “You don’t know if you need an engineer or entomologist”.
